COOKING-ALL MEN SHOULD COOK

What does history has to do with cooking?

History has much to deal with food rather than cooking.Homo erectus (The stage we were before humans) was cooking their food as early as 500,000 years ago(0.5 million years ago). Evidence for the controlled use of fire in the beginning of 400,000 years ago has been verified.They found that cooked food has more nutrition and calories than uncooked.


There are mainly 4 kinds of eaters

1.One who eats to remove hunger without feelings but don't overeat.
2.Second the one, who eat to satisfy the food and himself, at-least has a feeling  and tends to overeat
3.The diet-Y one who diets,very conscious about what they eat to maintain their body.Maybe satisfied but fear running throughout and planning requirements just tire them out.
4.There come a 4th kind of eater,one who just eats to satisfy his mental needs rather than hunger. It could be the way the food is made,the ingredients,the presentation,The aroma which call all individually or cumulatively leads to satisfaction.Just a bite and they are satisfied.Eating more of it wont be a problem,They know when to eat and when not to.

All are winners,but 4th type of person is believed to be ultimate winner.He choose quality,quantity.They know when to eat and when to stop.A real chef determine the quality of the food in just one bite.They are mentally happy by the food they eat.


I write not to enforce a career in cooking,Culinary art which deals with  Preparation,Cooking & Presentation.But its much more.The problems associated with hotels and messes are many:
1.Quantity-They provide more than what we need.It makes us fat
2.Quality-They provide less than what we require.It makes us sick and unhealthy
3.Choices of raw ingredients-We choose the vegetables,because we buy it.We can choose,if we want carrot more for the eyes or amla more for the hairs.
4.Money of course.You can save upto 2-3 times your cost


My inspiration to cooking comes from a variety of factors-Kozhikode food-Beef Biriyani(Rehamath),Pune tea,Mutton Kadai,Ramsey Gordon and of course the time when there is no "money".But my ULTIMATE INSPIRATION is from my mom,She being a teacher just plans and makes sure the whole family is fed and My Dad who knows to cook in his bachelor days and applied after his marriage.He makes me food,even after I graduated.I realised that it is manly of a man to cook.


Men should cook.He should try out and explore.Its sexy of a man to cook.It is even shown in a survey of 1000 women in USA  and the same is applicable everywhere.We have seen that Chef is disgraced everywhere,But he is a great person.He can satisfy ones body and mind just like any woman because eating satisfaction is just as important as sexual satisfaction and vice versa.The first bite of any good food is just worth to remember.I still remember the first time i had Shawarma from  Falafil restaurant in Sharjah,UAE. It was just Magic.But maybe not as people remember their first kiss.





WHAT COOKING IS:


1.Cooking starts with cleaning
  • Kitchen should be clean and dry
  • Separate arrangement for plastic waste,Organic waste
  • Fridge should be clean weekly
  • Clean the food-Fruits
  • Clean the utensils with warm water if possible.
2.Buy the best food from the market.Go for LOCALLY AVAILABLE diets rather than international,exotic fruits like-Kiwi and avacado. Buy what is available in India.
3.Cutting,chopping,grinding,shredding,rolling are the actions involved in cooking.  Cutting a fish,see how Gordon Ramsey do it.You got to master in that.Chopping is an art.There are style and technique involved.
4.Next stage is mixing of food with spices,sauses before baking or boiling-Called 'marinating', 'mixing'-Which can be done manually or via tools like a mixer,.
5.Next stage depends upon what to do for ultimate cooking-Roasting,Boiling,Deep frying,Grilling,Baking etc.
6.Selection of cookware:

  •  Worst to cook with- PTFE(teflon),PFOA-Cancer,Granite
  • Moderate-Aluminium,Low shine-Stainless steel-YES GOOD
  • Good-Cast iron,brass and bronze,Safest-CLAY COOKWARE



I do not aim to reveal what to cook and when to cook and how to cook.I am no expert.All the recipes ,techniques are available in Youtube-Indian,Afghan,Italian...What i want to voice is that Man can cook and he should-weather it is barbecue or steak or grill .Its not just about survival.Its the feeling after feeding someone and they say-Arre Waah!!!He should make a dish worthy of remembering him.The dish has became his identity.One of the bucket list by any cool man would be to cook a signature dish,with proper techniques.And it infact make him more manly-cooking and washing dishes!!!
